OUR HOPE STORY
In 1974, four families gathered in Shawano with a simple vision: to plant a church where people could experience the hope of Jesus. What began with 12 people has grown through decades of prayer, faith, and bold steps into a thriving, biblically devoted church that reaches far beyond Shawano. Today, with multiple campuses and people coming from dozens of surrounding communities, Hope continues to live out that same calling: to help people find hope, grow in faith, and share God’s love in their communities.
At our core, Hope is a church committed to living out the heart of God in our communities and beyond. More than anything, we want you to know that God loves you and has a plan and a purpose for your life.

OUR MISSION
Hope Community Church exists to help people connect with the life-changing hope of Jesus
OUR HOPE
The heartbeat of Hope Community Church is to ...
INVITE
Jesus wants everyone to know Him. Therefore we connect with people where they are at to share Jesus and let each person know they are loved and valued.
INVEST
As we press into life together we aim to grow in Christ-likeness. In community we experience the love, grace, guidance, and space to live out the victory Jesus has won for us.
IMPACT
Jesus changes everything. As His followers we are committed to serving our communities and world in ways that reflect His sacrificial love and shine His tangible hope.
OUR VALUES
Prayer Dependent - Can we be praying for those who need more of Jesus in our community? Can we be praying for 3 people who are near and dear to us? Can we be praying for those prodigals in our life?
Biblically Devoted - Can we create a community of believers in each community around us that is hoping for and praying for a church like Hope that is devoted to teaching the bible in grace, truth and love?
Family Focused - Can we help those families who are struggling with parenting and the busyness of life to know God’s peace and plan for their family? Can we come alongside families in each and every community to help them share the life-changing Hope of Jesus with the next generation?
Life-Changing Gathering - We believe that when we gather together - to pray - to worship - to share Jesus, whether that’s in a large group on Sunday mornings or in small groups around our kitchen table, lives are changed! Can we do that in each and every community that someone at Hope calls their home?
Power Under Serving - Can we serve each and every community like Jesus served? Can we show Jesus’ love not just in Shawano, but in each town, village and municipality in Shawano County and beyond?
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Our kids ministry exists to help kids come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We believe that if the church and family work together, a child has the best chance of growing to know, love and follow Jesus. This is a place where kids birth – grade 5 can explore God’s Word and experience His love each week.
You are invited to
Kids Ministry on Sunday mornings.
True North Family Nights on Tuesday evenings.

Our Youth Ministry REFUGE is a weekly experience for students to connect with friends, explore faith, and take ownership of what they believe. Whether you are new to the idea of God or are pretty far along in your faith journey, you are welcome here. We get real about a relationship with Jesus and have a lot fun while doing it! From our memorable events to our welcoming small groups, REFUGE is a place to belong and be known.
MEET OUR LEAD PASTOR
Kyle Johnson is the lead pastor of Hope Community Church. After founding and leading The Crossing Church in Sacramento for 24 years, God called him and his family to Wisconsin, a move that has only deepened his awe of God’s sovereignty and grace. He is honored to have the opportunity to teach God’s Word in practical ways and serve the local church. Kyle is passionate about helping people know and follow Jesus in order to see them thrive in their God-designed purpose. Kyle received his Master of Divinity from Azusa Pacific University and strives to continue growing in his understanding of the Bible and how God is moving within the world we live. Kyle is blessed to be married to his true friend and ministry partner, Kelly. They have three incredible children, Makenzie, Bailey, and Simeon Carter, and recently gained an amazing son-in-law, Joel. When he’s not enjoying family time, Kyle can be found reading books and listening to podcasts on leadership, squeezing in a workout, coaching basketball, or cheering a little too hard for the Sacramento Kings to rise out of mediocrity, though he’s loving rooting for the Packers these days as well.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
THE TRINITY
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
GOD THE FATHER
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus is God. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every person who has accepted Christ as Savior, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
REGENERATION
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are born again into the family of God by the Holy Spirit.
THE CHURCH
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe the local church, consists of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized by immersion on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
CHRISTIAN CONDUCT
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and well-being of his fellow man; that he should strive to be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
THE ORDINANCES
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that the Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
We believe that every human being is accountable to God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore, Church and State must be kept free and separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.
LAST THINGS
We believe in the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth and the establishment of His kingdom on earth. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
